Abstract

Archaeological excavations in Al Ain, UAE, have uncovered over 60 ancient Aflaj water channels, deepening understanding of historical water management. To share these findings, the Aflaj Discoveries digital platform was created by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, using 3D documentation and AR/VR to offer virtual access to hidden heritage sites. The project highlights both the potential of digital heritage engagement and the challenges of sustainability, data management, and ethics in preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
